Messages From God Through His Prophets A Quest for Hidden Treasure
by Steve Potter, Rochester, NY
January 21, 2024 "Deep
calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; all Your waves and
billows have gone over me." (Psalm 42:7) Beloved, as we journey in our walk with the Lord,
let us not be content with just knowing Him as our Savior alone. For
there is a depth of His presence waiting to be explored, like
uncharted waters waiting to be discovered. Imagine the depths of the ocean, the vastness and
the mystery that lies beneath the surface. That is how we can
picture our relationship with the Lord. Just like how we take quiet
moments to dive into the ocean and explore its wonders, let us take
those quiet moments to dive into the depths of our relationship with
Him. The Lord longs to reveal Himself to us in a
personal and intimate way to show us His heart, and to take us by
the hand and lead us into the depths of His presence. Let us take that step forward, beyond just
knowing His blessings and into knowing His depths. For in knowing Him more deeply, we will find
ourselves transformed by His love and grace. In this article we will
explore more on this beautiful revelation. To Know His Depths Many in the Body of Christ are content to know
the Lord as their Savior, while some have desired to go a little
further and know Him as the one who answers prayers, heals them,
supplies their needs, and uses them to minister to others. Some are satisfied with only the "feeling" of His
anointing, not realizing that the Lord is seeking to reveal Himself
to them in a far deeper, more personal way. Beloved, there is MORE! Much more! Move beyond
His hands—beyond His blessing—and into His arms. He is waiting for you to reveal His very heart!
Oh, how Jesus desires to take you by the hand and lead you into the
depths of His presence. To know His depths—this is what we are after The Nearness of the Lord
The world often distracts us from knowing who He
really is and what He desires for us. Yet, there will always be
souls that hunger for His love and seek Him wholeheartedly.
(Photo via Unsplash) Before anything was created, God was the only
source of life in existence; He is self-sufficient and has no need
of anything outside of Himself, and yet He longs to be near to us,
and that's why the one who earnestly searches for God with all their
heart will truly know His nearness. They will be able to call Him friend. This understanding provides such comfort in
knowing that our God longs to have an intimate relationship with us.
What an honor it is that God would desire to walk
with man! He is our Creator, and He loves His creation. He is our Father, and we are His children. What a wonderful thought that the God of the
universe would want to have a relationship with us. The experience
of His nearness brings a strong assurance that we are valued and
beloved by a heavenly Father. Take comfort in this knowledge, as it
will bring deep peace and joy to your soul. The joyous recognition of Him in our lives brings
us into an abundant, deeper life. No matter where you are in your relationship with
God, remember that He wants you to know His nearness. He longs for
you to recognize Him in your everyday life and joyfully come back
into deeper fellowship with Him. Don't give up on your relationship with the Lord;
He's always ready and waiting with open arms. Quiet Moments The Lord is always seeking to reveal Himself to
us, and one of the ways He does that is by isolating us from the
noise and distractions of the world. When we are alone with Him, we can more clearly
see His hand at work in our lives and come to know Him more
intimately. The sounds of the world are hushed, as if beckoning us
to leave them behind and respond to God's solo invitation. The quiet moments we spend with Him are some of
the most precious, for it is in those times that our souls are
thirsting for His living waters. And as we draw near to Him, He promises to
satisfy our deepest longing for Him. So let us listen for the still, small voice of
the Lord that is calling us away from it all, so that we may
recharge in His presence and come to know Him more deeply. There is something wonderfully intimate about the
Lord's call to come away. Can you hear the sacred call to draw near? "My
beloved speaks and says to me: 'Arise, my love, my beautiful one,
and come away.'" (Song of Solomon 2:10) A Quest for Hidden Treasure Here are some scriptures on knowing the Lord more
deeply and experiencing His nearness: "You
will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart."
(Jeremiah 29:13) Just as a traveler on a quest for hidden treasure
must seek it with all their might, so must we seek the Lord with all
our heart to truly find Him. It is only by casting aside all distractions and
focusing our entire being on seeking Him that we will discover the
riches of His presence.
Just as a thirsty traveler in a barren wilderness
longs for a cool, refreshing stream of water, so does our soul yearn
for the Lord's presence. When we behold His power and glory in the
sanctuary of His presence, we are filled with the recognition that
His steadfast love is better than anything this life can offer, and
our heart overflows with praise. "Draw
near to God and He will draw near to you..." (James 4:8) Just as a magnetic force draws two objects
together, so does our decision to draw near to the Lord activate His
response to draw near to us.
When we take the initiative to move
closer to Him, we can trust that He will respond by moving closer to
us in turn. "You
have said, 'Seek My face.' My heart says to you, 'Your face, Lord,
do I seek.'" (Psalm 27:8) Just as a lover longs to gaze into the eyes of
their beloved, so does our heart long to seek the face of the Lord.
When we answer His call to seek Him with all our heart, we are drawn
into an intimate relationship with Him where we can behold the
beauty of His face and know Him more deeply. "I
want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of His resurrection and
participation in His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death."
(Philippians 3:10) Just as a seed
must be buried in the ground to bring forth new life, so must we be
willing to identify with the Lord in His sufferings in order to
experience the power of His resurrection.
When we choose to die to ourselves and live for Him, we become like
Him and are transformed into vessels of His love and grace. Let us hold fast to these scriptures and pursue
the Lord with all our heart, knowing that He is always waiting for
us with open arms. Steve Porter Steve and
